What is overhead garage storage?
Overhead garage storage mounts platforms or rails to your ceiling framing so totes and gear live above the cars. A Storage Elevator also lowers the platform to standing height with a cordless drill, then lifts it back up.
Do CeilingSAM Storage Elevators need an electrical outlet or motor?
No. Per CeilingSAM, Storage Elevators are drill-powered — there is no built-in electric motor or lift wiring. You raise and lower the platform with a standard cordless drill and the matching drill rod for your ceiling height.
How long does installation take?
A typical Storage Elevator install is about 1–2 hours once joists, clearances, and the unit are ready. Time varies with garage layout and whether multiple systems are installed the same day.

How much weight can a Storage Elevator hold?
According to CeilingSAM: 4×4, 4×6, and 4×8 Storage Elevators are rated 400 lb evenly distributed; 4×8 Pro and Pro RV are rated 700 lb evenly distributed. Loads must be evenly distributed and installed into solid framing per the instructions.
Is this the same as a car lift or a self-storage unit?
No. We install ceiling-mounted garage storage for household gear — not automotive two-post/four-post car lifts, and not rented self-storage units.
Can this hold Christmas and holiday décor totes?
Yes — tote-friendly Storage Elevators and Tote Slide Pro are commonly used for seasonal décor bins. If you also hang Christmas lights, getting décor off the floor makes that season smoother.
Do you publish installed prices online?
Installed pricing depends on model, ceiling-height version, accessories, and site conditions. We quote case by case and stay at or above manufacturer retail MAP — call or text for a quote.
Are you an authorized CeilingSAM dealer?
We install CeilingSAM overhead storage lifts as an independent local installer. Dealer approval status may update — ask us for the current relationship when you request a quote.
What do I need ready before install day?
Clear floor space under the install zone, confirm ceiling height, and be ready to show joist direction. We’ll confirm framing suitability before fastening any system overhead.
